Google Pixel 7a Leaks: A Budget

With Google I/O 2023 just around the corner, the anticipation for the upcoming Google Pixel 7a is building. Fortunately, we’ve got some leaked renders from the reliable OnLeaks and MySmartPrice to give us a glimpse of what to expect from Google’s next budget phone.

At first glance, the Pixel 7a appears to share a striking resemblance to its predecessor, the Pixel 7, continuing the trend of Google’s budget phones taking design cues from their flagship counterparts. The distinctive horizontal camera bar remains, likely featuring the same aluminum construction and matte finish as the Pixel 7.

One noticeable difference between the Pixel 7a and the Pixel 7 is the bezel around the display, which seems to be slightly thicker on the budget phone. This design choice is consistent with the previous Pixel 6a model.

In terms of color options, the renders reveal a new sky blue variant, potentially replacing the Lemongrass color offered in the Pixel 6a. Of course, the standard black and white versions are also expected.

When it comes to specs, the Pixel 7a is rumored to feature the same Tensor G2 chipset found in the Pixel 7 flagships, allowing for a range of AI-powered features. The dual rear camera array is set to continue, with the main lens rumored to receive an upgrade to a 64MP sensor, while the ultrawide lens retains its 12MP camera. Storage options are expected to increase to 256GB, with the device possibly shipping with 8GB of RAM.

The primary attraction of Google’s A Series devices has always been their competitive pricing. The Pixel 6a, priced at $449, has even seen price drops in anticipation of the Pixel 7a release. It remains to be seen whether Google will maintain this price point for the new model.

The wait for more information won’t be long, as the Pixel 7a is likely to be previewed at the Google I/O event on May 10. In addition to the Pixel 7a, we’re also expecting previews of the Pixel 8 and potentially a first look at the much-anticipated Pixel Fold, Google’s rumored foldable device. Stay tuned for more updates on the exciting world of Google smartphones!
