Get ready, iPhone users! iOS 17 is rumored to introduce “major” changes to the Control Center on the iPhone, as reported by a MacRumors forum member who had previously leaked accurate details about the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro, even before its official announcement last year.
According to the anonymous source, iOS 17 will primarily focus on performance and stability improvements. This indicates that a completely reimagined Control Center could be one of the most significant changes accompanying the software update. Apple is set to announce iOS 17 at the WWDC 2023 keynote on June 5, and as is the norm, the first beta version should be available for developers to test later that same day.
The source, however, did not reveal any specific information regarding the changes planned for the Control Center, which has essentially remained the same since the release of iOS 11 in 2017. This menu offers iPhone users quick and easy access to controls for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, display brightness, volume, and various other system functions. For iPhone X and newer models, the Control Center can be opened by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen.
As Control Center celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, having been introduced with iOS 7, it’s possible that Apple could make it more customizable and give the menu a fresh design after six years of minimal changes. However, the exact changes, if any, are yet to be confirmed.
It’s important to note that while the forum member has a proven track record of accurate leaks, this specific rumor has not been confirmed by other sources, and Apple’s plans are always subject to change. So, for now, we’ll have to wait and see what surprises Apple has in store for us with iOS 17 and the new Control Center.
